Renal artery occlusion in the late postoperative period managed with renal artery stenting after endovascular abdominal aortic aneurysm repair and renal function salvage.

چکیده
Endovascular aneurysm repair (EVAR) of abdominal aorta is a valuable treatment option in selected patients with abdominal aortic aneurysm. Renal artery occlusion is a serious complication after EVAR and may progress to permanent renal injury requiring hemodialysis. In this report, case of unexpected renal artery occlusion after EVAR treated with renal artery stenting in the late postoperative period is described.

Postoperative “Chimney” for Unintentional Renal Artery Occlusion after EVAR
Renal artery obstruction during endovascular repair of abdominal aortic aneurysm using standard device is a rare but life-threatening complication and should be recognized and repaired rapidly in order to maintain renal function. Both conventional surgery and endovascular stenting have been reported. We report a case of late postoperative bilateral "chimney" to resolve a bilateral thrombosis of...
متن کاملSalvage of bilateral renal artery occlusion after endovascular aneurysm repair with open splenorenal bypass
We report renal salvage maneuvers after accidental bilateral renal artery coverage during endovascular aneurysm repair of an infrarenal abdominal aortic aneurysm. A 79-year-old man with an infrarenal abdominal aortic aneurysm was treated with endovascular aneurysm repair. Completion angiography demonstrated coverage of the renal arteries. Several revascularization techniques were attempted, inc...
متن کاملRenal insufficiency after infrarenal abdominal aortic aneurysm reconstruction: An analysis of this risk factor in 45 patients
Abstract Background: Renal insufficiency is a potential complication after infrarenal abdominal aortic aneurysm repair and is a significant risk factor for postoperative mortality and morbidity. The aim of this study was to analyze the effect of this risk factor, before and during operation. Methods: In this prospective study, between 2003 and 2006, 45 patients underwent repair of an infrarena...
متن کاملAccidental Coverage of Both Renal Arteries during Infrarenal Aortic Stent-Graft Implantation: Cause and Treatment
The purpose of this paper is to report a salvage maneuver for accidental coverage of both renal arteries during endovascular aneurysm repair (EVAR) of an infrarenal abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA). A 72-year-old female with a 6 cm infrarenal abdominal aortic aneurysm was treated by endovascular means with a standard bifurcated graft. Upon completing an angiogram, both renal arteries were found ...
متن کاملFrequency of Complications Following Endovascular Repair of Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm in Tehran Sina Hospital, 2011-2019
Background and purpose: Abdominal aortic aneurysms (AAA) is a localized enlargement of infrarenal abdominal aorta. Endovascular aneurysm repair (EVAR) is a surgical method introduced for AAA repair. This study, for the first time in Iran, investigated the complications and mortality rate associated with EVAR. Materials and methods: In this cross-sectional study, medical records were reviewed...
